Bruce Macleod

I lost my gorgeous eldest son, Bruce Macleod, to suicide on 5 May 2014. He was always creative: writing, drawing, a sculptor, actor, poet, writer, photographer.

When I lost my gorgeous eldest son, Bruce, to suicide I wrote about my experience in my book The Weight of Emptiness: Comfort and Hope for the Loss of a Loved One. I share stories about my son, who never realised how much he was loved by everyone. Like many creatives he had an inherent dilemma - the dark and the light, the urgent need to communicate yet the still more urgent need not to be found. My book includes stories shared by others who experienced loss of a loved one. I found, as did others who shared their stories, it very therapeutic and I remind everyone to say the name of their loved one often and remember that they are in your heart and soul forever. I include tips and strategies for coping with grief and life's challenges. I do hope you decide to give to SAMH, a very worthwhile and necessary charity with increase in suicides and mental health issues on the rise. I also donate 5% of the sale of each of my book The Weight of Emptiness: Comfort and Hope for the Loss of a Loved One when purchased from my website www.mindcircles.co.uk. When you use the strategies in my book you will find that when you experience the pain of loss of a loved one you can find more courage and resilience than you believe possible which give you the ability to endure every day in even a hopeful way.
