Callum Forbes Murray

It is with great sadness that I create this page in loving memory of my "wee" brother, Callum Forbes Murray, who died from suicide on Monday the 1st of September 2025.

Callum was so, so loved.

He was caring, loving, forgiving, modest, and kind. He had a brilliant sense of humour, down to earth nature, and an ability to bring out the fun and laughter in pretty much any situation.

He made life brighter, lighter, and more fun just by being him.

He was surrounded by so much love, and will forever be missed by his parents, Wendy and Graham; sister, Rachel; sister-in-law, Anna; nephew Ruairidh; nieces and nephews in law, “the kids”; and many friends, particularly “the boys”/“the lads” and his close colleagues.

Whilst there was an original Much Loved tribute page created for Callum and fundraising for SAMH in his name, the generosity and kindness of others has meant it would be helpful to have a centralised place for any future fundraising events that others can add to as they please.

I, Callum's sister, am a trustee at SAMH, and it is an organisation which has provided me with support with my mental health when I've needed it. SAMH is currently raising money for The Nook, Scotland's first ever network of walk/wheel-in mental health support hubs. The first of these Nooks opened in Callum's home city of Glasgow, and supported thousands of people in just its first couple of months. Aberdeen has recently opened, and more are on their way.

We wish this kind of support was something that had already existed, and that Callum had used.

I would like to thank everyone who was a part of Callum's life for the joy and memories you gave him. Thank you for sharing any little pieces of those memories that you wish to share here, and thank you for your continued generosity by fundraising to help other people in his name.

Whether it’s £10 from a bake sale, or £1,330,156 from walking the length of the USA in a kilt (well done Craig!), every penny donated to SAMH is appreciated and will be put to good use.

Whilst I have some Gaelic, Callum never spoke it, but he loved a peaty single malt, some good tunes, and was an amazing drummer. He bought my son his first drum kit and taught him to play on a full sized one too. As a result, a Gaelic proverb that’s stuck with me has been:

• - “Thig crìoch air an t-saoghal ach mairidh gaol is ceòl.”


• ”The world may come to an end, but love and music will last forever.”

A Chaluim, whether it’s 1 year or 50, mairidh gaol is ceòl. 🤍
