Nicola ( Nicky) Medcalf

Nicky was a clever, kind young woman, articulate and during her school years quite a sportswoman.

She  was keen on Musicals, amateur dramatics especially Pantomimes, could sing beautifully and loved music and going to concerts including Pink, Keshia, Taylor Swift ( only missing the Murrayfield concert due to being in hospital),  and many others. She went with her Dad to the Edinburgh Festival every year enjoying the myriad of performances  especially Action Theatre, music and far more.

Nicky was studying Public Health at the Open University and was just about to start year three, she had worked for charities including Penumbra and greatly supported SAMH and it's partner charity SeeMe as the video below shows.

Keeping up with friends, travel, cooking and eating out were other passions happily indulged in when life permitted.

She was a coffee connoisseur, a trainee Barista and shared a love of fine coffee with her cousin Hugo Medcalf and they frequently swapped their favourite beans by post from different roasters at either end of the UK to compare, contrast and drink.

It is for this reason that Hugh has bravely offered to to train and run his first marathon in Edinburgh in May 2026 in memory and in honour of Nicky Medcalf.
